Project Overview
This project analyses the lives and legacies of Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Brontë, three Victorian sisters who shattered literary boundaries. Employing male pseudonyms and navigating the confines of their Yorkshire parsonage, they authored timeless masterpieces fueled by ambition and a desire for freedom. Through 19th-century European fashion, I have attempted to analyze their work and personalities.
Intricate details in 19th-century European fashion, like puffed sleeves and lace adornments, were not mere embellishments but subtle expressions of prevailing notions of femininity and social expectations.
